According to the Russian Federal Bureau of Statistics, Russian cement production increased by 4.8% in January 2018 compared with the same period last year, the Russian Business Consulting website reported on March 7. In January 2018, Russian factories produced 2.13 million tons of cement. At the same time, cement production data in January, due to long holidays and seasonal declines, are largely unrepresentative.
The increase in cement production in January was accompanied by the expansion of railway traffic and the increase in inventory. Compared with January 2017, the railway traffic volume increased by 4.8%; in January 2017, the average cement inventory in Russia could meet 20.5 days, while in January 2018, the expected sales time of the inventory increased to 23 days.
In January 2018, cement production in all federal districts of Russia showed a positive trend. The highest increase in production was in the North Caucasus Federal District, which increased by nearly 1.5 times over the same period last year. Cement production in the Far East Federal District increased by nearly 28%. The lowest growth rate was 0.8% in the Siberian Federal District.
Official statistics showed that economic indicators grew in January. Among them, industrial production increased by 2.9% compared with January 2017, freight transport turnover increased by 0.9%, and railway transport increased by 5.6%. In January 2018, the construction volume increased by 0.2% year-on-year. Completed housing increased by 16.3%. According to estimates by the Foreign Economic Bank, Russia's GDP index grew by 1.9% in January 2018 compared with the same period last year, compared with 1.1% in December last year.
