In 2017, Russia produced 54.6 million tons of cement, which was estimated by the consulting company to have decreased by 0.6% compared with 2016, but according to the data of the Russian Federal State Statistics Service, the output decreased by 0.3%. Due to the rapid growth of production in the last two months of 2017, cement production decreased slightly throughout the year. In November 2017, Russia produced 415,000 tons of cement, up 12.1% year-on-year, and 233,000 tons in December, up 9%.
On the one hand, the increase of output is the corresponding increase of railway traffic volume, on the other hand, the increase of manufacturer's inventory. This shows that the production dynamic data is generally consistent with the actual situation.
In 2017, the leading growth rate of cement production in Russia was in the Federal District along the Volga River, which increased by 7.4% in the whole year, compared with a strong growth of 17% in December. Most of the local factories show an increasing trend. The output of the Far East Federal District has increased for four consecutive months, with an annual increase of about 7%. Among the Federal Districts, the Northwest Federal District had the largest decline in production, with cement production falling by 9.3% in 2017.
Russia's economy slowed down in December 2017. According to official data, industrial production fell by 1.5% compared with December 2016. With the continuous decline of industrial production, the turnover of cargo transportation has also continued to decline. In 2017, Russia's construction industry dropped by 1.4%. Housing completed in December increased by 5.1%, and housing construction in January-December decreased by 2.1% compared with January-December 2016.
