On July 28, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) updated its regulated list, including inverters and advanced mobile robots produced abroad for the first time, and determined that the related products posed an unacceptable risk to the national security and public safety of the United States. The existence of supply chain vulnerabilities, damage to economic security and network security risks will threaten the operation of critical infrastructure. The relevant new models in the list
cannot be authorized by FCC equipment and cannot be imported, sold and promoted in the United States, and the ban will take effect immediately.
At the same time, foreign inverter manufacturers can submit an application for safety assessment, and if the assessment is passed, they can obtain conditional approval, which is not subject to the control list.
It is worth noting that the ban is aimed at new models that have not yet been certified, and old models already on the market are not affected. Data from
the U.S. Department of Energy show that local inverter manufacturers can only meet 7% of the demand of the U.S. market, leaving 93% dependent on imports.
