On July 10, the supporting coal power project of Kubuqi Desert Power Transmission Project in Shanghai started in Dalate Banner, Ordos City, Inner Mongolia, marking that Huaneng Kubuqi's 10 million kilowatt "Shagehuang" base formally entered the construction stage. The
base is located in the Kubuqi Desert of Ordos City, with a total installed capacity of about 15GW. It adopts the development mode of "integration of wind, solar, fire and storage", relying on desert wind and solar resources to build wind power, photovoltaic and energy storage, and synchronously supporting clean coal-fired power units. Including photovoltaic 8GW, wind power 4.5G W, supporting coal-fired power 2.64 GW, new energy storage 9 GWh, the total investment is about 63.2 billion yuan.
Previously, in February 2026, the power supply scheme of the "Shagohuang" base was approved by the Energy Bureau of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, becoming the first approved "Shagohuang" base project during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period.
