According to foreign media reports, Highland Materials, a high-purity silicon manufacturer in the United States, signed a long-term land lease agreement to build a polysilicon plant and an energy project park. The
company plans to spend $1 billion (about 7.181 billion yuan) to build a factory with an initial annual capacity of 16000 tons, which will increase to 20000 tons in four years to meet the raw material demand of 11 GW solar cells. The company has completed a pilot project of 600 tons. On April 23,
2024, the company received a $255.6 million tax credit to build the plant, and did not disclose specific information about the polysilicon plant at that time.
