In 2014, Baotou City will support Baotou Iron and Steel (Group) Co., Ltd. to start the second phase of the dust source control project, eliminate all the shaft furnaces and old pelletizing machines in the ironmaking plant, and complete the transformation of the charging system of four blast furnaces and the electrostatic precipitator of the casting house. Complete the upgrading project of pollutant emission standards in iron and steel, thermal power and other industries in the city. Clean up and rectify the serious pollution enterprises around Baotou Steel, and shut down 307 coal yards along highways and railways. It is forbidden to build new polluting enterprises around cities and urban areas. There are 1170 small coal-fired boilers in urban areas, and yellow standard cars registered and operated before 2005 have been eliminated.
