By the end of June, cumulative shipments of 210 mm modules reached 150 gigawatts, half of which was contributed by Trina Solar.

On September 18,

2023, TrendForce released a report: By the end of June, the cumulative shipment of 210 mm modules reached 150 gigawatts, half of which was contributed by Trina Solar. Shipments by

leading module manufacturers (in GW)

According to TrendForce, capacity for 210mm modules is expected to reach 722 GW, or 69.83% of total capacity, by year-end. The increase in production capacity and shipments shows that large-size high-performance modules are rapidly driving the development of the entire industrial chain. In addition, the output power of the N-type 210 mm module has exceeded 700 watts, highlighting the openness and innovation of the 210 mm product technology platform.

This year, the capacity of 210 mm wafers has increased by 89.3%, with 210 mm modules accounting for 70% of the total module capacity. With the rapid development of large-size and thin-type wafers, large-size wafers have rapidly occupied the market due to cost reduction and efficiency improvement. According to TrendForce, the production capacity of large-size wafers is expected to reach 878.6 gigawatts this year, with a market share of 95.33%. It is worth mentioning that the production capacity of 210 mm wafers is expected to reach 357.2 gigawatts, an increase of 89.3% over last year.

According to TrendForce, the production capacity of large-size cells is expected to reach 1,136.2 GW this year, accounting for 96.93% of the total production capacity. The production capacity of 210 mm cells is expected to reach 899.9 gigawatts, an increase of 179% over last year. With this growth, its market share will also increase to 76.8%.

In the module sector, TrendForce estimates that the capacity of large-size modules will reach 961 GW this year, accounting for 92.84% of the market share. The capacity of 210 mm modules is expected to reach 722 GW, an increase of 116% over last year, accounting for 69.83% of the total capacity. It is expected that the production capacity will be further expanded in the next few years, and the position of large-size modules in the market will be consolidated.

Large-size high-performance modules account for more than 90% of the tender demand, and the market penetration of N-type modules is increasing. Due to cost reduction, efficiency improvement and application expansion, more than 90% of the tender demand is now focused on high-performance large-size modules. The total capacity of photovoltaic modules tendered in China

this year is 137.78 gigawatts. Modules of more than 540 watts accounted for 98.37% of the total tender capacity, and large-size modules (182 mm/210 mm) accounted for 98.42%, reaching 135.6 GW. N-type modules reached 25.9 gigawatts, accounting for 18.8%, and the proportion is growing.

High demand led to cumulative shipments of 150 GW of 210mm modules. Cumulative shipments of 210mm modules, including 210 R, reached 150 GW by the end of June, with more than 75 GW supplied by Trina Solar, according to TrendForce.

TrendForce predicts that continued cost reductions and efficiency improvements will further drive large-size module shipments, with the share of shipments exceeding 85%. Shipments of 210mm modules, meanwhile, are expected to reach record levels.

Leading companies have introduced many N-type products, including the 210mm N-type module that led the industry into the 700W + era. With the mass production of Trina Solar's Vertex N 700-watt + module, the company leads the photovoltaic 7.0 era. According to the company's information in the semi-annual financial report, by the end of the year, the production capacity of N-type wafers will reach 50 gigawatts, and the production capacity of batteries will reach 75 gigawatts, of which N-type batteries will account for 40 gigawatts.

In the field of N-type modules, HJT modules are mainly 210 mm, while TOPCon modules are mainly 210 mm (210 R) and 19 X. The 210 mm (210 R) N-type module clearly outperforms the 19x N-type module in terms of power output.

210 mm N-type technology will create higher value in the whole industry chain and terminal market, and promote the high-quality development of photovoltaic industry .
