It is reported that in order to maintain the stability of river embankments and ensure flood control safety, the Bureau of Housing, Urban and Rural Construction and Water Conservancy of Shunde District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province, has designated a prohibited area for river sand mining in Shunde District, which will come into effect on January 1, 2023 and will be valid until December 31, 2023. The river course
designated as the prohibited area of river sand mining in Shunde District in 2023 is the provincial-administered river course within the jurisdiction of Shunde District, including the main stream of Xijiang River, Shunde Waterway, Tanzhou Waterway, Pingzhou Waterway, Chencun Waterway, Chencun Chung, Jili Chung, Lijiasha Waterway, Hongqili Waterway, Shunde Tributary, Ganzhuxi, Donghai Waterway, Ronggui Waterway and Donghai Waterway. Guizhou Waterway, Jiya Waterway and Haizhou Waterway are 16 rivers.
For the above-mentioned rivers, the acceptance of applications for sand mining in rivers and the issuance of "Sand Mining Permits in Rivers" shall be suspended, and all sand mining activities in rivers shall be prohibited (except for river regulation and waterway dredging projects approved by the water administration department and other relevant departments). Violators will be severely punished according to law.
