Sales of Indian cement increased by 10% from April to December 2006

< DIV align = justify > Cement production in India grew 10% in the nine months from April to December, driven by the market in the central region of the country, with sales growth also locked in at 10%.
< DIV align = justify > Indian cement sales amounted to 112.25 million tonnes between April and December 2006, compared with 102 million tonnes in the same period of the previous fiscal year, according to industry sources. During the same period, cement production reached million tons 11287, compared with million tons 10233 in the same period of the previous fiscal year. Unlike the previous months, the significant increase in sales in the nine months was driven by the increase in cement consumption in the central region. Cement sales grew by 13% in the central region, followed by 11% in both the southern and northern regions, driven by rapid consumption growth in Uttar Pradesh. The western and eastern regions grew by 9% and 6% respectively.
< DIV align = justify > Cement consumption in Uttaranchal surged by 27% in the April-December period, the highest growth among the States. Chattisgarh state also registered a significant increase of 21% and Himachal Pradesh state reached 17%, followed by Uttaranchal.
< DIV align = justify > In terms of production, the vast majority of regions experienced growth. Among the regions, Bihar recorded the fastest growth in production at 37%, followed by Orissa at 19%.

Data from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry show that India's cement production in the first half of 2019 increased by 6.3% year-on-year to 至1.78 million tons, compared with 167 million tons in the same period in 2018.
