Concrete and steel towers are erected in the desert wasteland, and noisy and busy construction sites are spread out in the vast Gobi Desert. The site, which covers an area of 5 square kilometers, is the site of the clinker cement production line project in Beni Suweif, Egypt.
About 120 kilometers from the capital Cairo, Sinoma International Chengdu Building Materials Industry Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd. (Hereinafter referred to as Chengdu Building Materials Institute) is the contractor of the project, and the owner is the Equipment Bureau of the Egyptian Ministry of Defense.
Wu Yong, the Chinese project manager, said that the scope of the project includes the exploration, design and mining of limestone mines, the construction of six cement production lines with a daily output of 6000 tons from limestone crushing to finished products and all auxiliary production facilities, including topographic survey and geological exploration in the early stage of the project, as well as the construction of supporting living areas for factories. The contract came into effect on June 1, 2016, requiring ignition and feeding to start production before December 31, 2017.
Wu Yong told reporters that the employees overcame the extremely hot weather in the desert and fought with Egyptian workers on the front line. They quickly built a board house in the Gobi Desert and a drilling rig rumbled on the construction site.
On May 12 this year, the project completed all performance assessment, all indicators are better than the contract standards, and was awarded the pre-acceptance certificate by the owner on May 28, marking the successful completion of the project and entering a new stage of performance.

Kamal Wazir, director of the Equipment Bureau of the Egyptian Ministry of Defense, said that the military and housing sectors were the largest cement consumers in Egypt, and that cement prices in Egypt had dropped by 25% to 30% after the Beni Suweif cement project was put into operation.
At present, the Egyptian government is committed to boosting the economy in an all-round way, increasing employment and improving people's livelihood, and is eager to make great strides in developing its economy. Liu Xiaoning, deputy general manager of Chengdu Institute of Building Materials, said that the project has contributed to the local economic development and played a positive role in promoting Sino-Egyptian economic and trade cooperation. It is also a world business card that Sinoma International has shown to the international cement engineering construction field. It has set up a model of "Chinese technology, Chinese manufacturing, Chinese standards and Chinese speed" to serve the construction of "one belt and one road".
