Tajikistan produced 774,000 tons of cement in the first quarter of 2018, an increase of 348,000 tons over the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Industry and New Technology of Tajikistan, the Asia-Plus News Agency reported on April 20. Among them, 322,000 tons of cement were exported to Uzbekistan (172,000 tons, an increase of 162,000 tons over the same period last year), Afghanistan (131,000 tons, a decrease of 10,600 tons over the same period last year) and Kyrgyzstan (19,000 tons, an increase of 16,800 tons over the same period last year).
In the first quarter of this year, the main cement producers in Tajikistan were Sinoma Moir Cement Co., Ltd. (33% of the total output), Huaxin Yawan Cement Co., Ltd. (27% of the total output), Huaxin Suget Cement Co., Ltd. (22% of the total output) and Tajik Cement Plant (Dushanbe) (8% of the total output). Over the past eight years, through Chinese investment and cooperation between China and Tajikistan, the cement output of Tajikistan has increased by nearly nine times.
