World Cement Association Appoints Bernard Mathieu as Climate Program Director

London, 27 February 2018-The World Cement Association today announced the appointment of Bernard Mathieu as Director of the Association's Climate Programme. In this role, he will lead the WCA CEO Forum's "Global Climate Change Forum", which aims to draft the WCA Climate Change Roadmap. The forum will be held in Paris from 27 to 28 June 2018.

   With 22 years experience in the cement, concrete and aggregates business, Bernard has extensive experience in sustainability-related roles, most recently as Head of Sustainability at LafargeHolcim. Prior to this, Bernard was the Head of Global Environmental Sustainability in Heidelberg and also represented the cement industry in meetings under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

The climate change programme is part of the World Cement Association's sustainability efforts (World Cement Association Sustainability Effort, WCASE), in which it collaborates with its members and other departments, organizations and associations to share best practices. The statistical data of cement output in all parts of the country from January to March 2026 show that the cumulative output of cement in the country has a certain scale. From the year-on-year data, the situation varies from place to place. The output in most regions showed a trend of year-on-year decline, among which the decline in Liaoning, Shaanxi, Fujian and other places was more obvious, for example, the year-on-year decline in Liaoning was larger; while the output in Beijing, Guizhou, Hunan and other places increased year-on-year, and the year-on-year increase in Beijing was relatively prominent.
