   Edmonton Fire Rescue personnel arrived at the Lafarge Prefabrication Plant (Lafarge Precast Edmonton) at 92nd and 44th Streets at approximately 7:30 a.m. that day. Police were also called to the scene.

   When they arrived, a worker was trapped under some concrete. A Lafarge crane operator assisted in the removal of the concrete rubble. It did not elaborate on what had happened or whether any other employees were present.

   "We are shocked and very concerned about the impact on his family and friends," the Lafarge spokesman said.

   Occupational Health and Safety is investigating and issuing stop-work and stop-use orders.

   The Alberta Department of Labor States that if the equipment is found to be unsafe or has the potential to seriously harm workers, a cease and desist order will be issued.

   The names of the victims have not yet been released.
