From September 19 to 20, 2017, the 140th (2017) annual meeting of VDZ was held at its headquarters in Dusseldorf, which is known as the birthplace of German cement, and 400 guests including world-renowned scholars, professors, experts and entrepreneurs of cement and concrete were invited to attend.
Although VDZ has a German name, it is actually a non-governmental cooperation organization with a long history and the most prestigious and authoritative international cement production and technology. Its core members include 3 German cement group companies and 27 most important foreign cement group companies in the world, covering the most advanced fields in all aspects of global cement production technology. Leading the development direction of cement in the world.
In his speech at the opening ceremony, Christian Knell, President of VDZ, first briefly reviewed the 140-year development history of VDZ, especially emphasized its contribution to the formulation of cement standards by combining science with practice, and to the continuous revision and improvement of cement standards with each passing day, which ensured the safety, durability, environmental protection and economy of cement concrete. It has promoted the scientific and technological progress and innovative development of cement. This fine tradition has been passed down to this day, making the German cement standard, which has now become the European Union cement standard, always in the leading position in the world cement industry.
Speaking of VDZ's main achievements in recent years, Mr. Knell believes that there are three aspects that can be proud of. These will or have had a worldwide impact on the future development of the cement industry.
1. Environmental protection-VDZ has formulated and implemented the most comprehensive and stringent emission standards (allowable limits) for the global cement industry. Every cement plant or company must submit an annual environmental report, and environmental protection truly enjoys the "veto power". With the continuous innovation of environmental protection technology, the investment in environmental protection has increased, which promotes the improvement of environmental quality. German cement industry is getting closer to "green".
2. Alternative fuels-Germany's cement industry has been in the forefront of the world in using all kinds of wastes from the whole society as cement kilns to replace natural fossil fuels. The substitution rate based on the total calories of the whole industry is now nearly 70%, and it is expected to reach 85% -90% in 2025.
3. Increase the proportion of 32.5 cement consumption-According to the current level of cement concrete technology development, on the premise of meeting the actual needs of various projects for cement performance, we should develop and popularize the application of 32.5 cement, reduce or replace the proportion of 42.5 or 52.5 cement consumption, develop various deep-processed admixtures, and tap the cementitious potential of various admixtures. Replacing part of cement clinker , reducing clinker coefficient, reducing the use of high-grade 52.5 cement, and there is no need to develop the so-called universal 62.5 cement. In 2016, the European Union added four new types of 32.5 composite cement in the revision of cement standards, which has received positive responses from the United States, Japan and other countries, and it has gradually become an international consensus that various grades of cement should be "used properly".
In 2017, there were 19 cement companies and 47 cement plants in Germany, with 7900 employees and a total turnover of 2.5 billion euros, or 316500 euros per capita per year.
The conference also carried out paper reading, professional discussion, conference speech and discussion, and finally entered the awarding ceremony of VDZ 2016 Industrial Production Safety Award. The two-day meeting was successfully concluded.
