Recently, Italcementi, which is currently part of Heidelberg Cement, said that the Italian Antimonopoly Authority's allegations were groundless and that the company would appeal to the Lazio court. Italy's anti-monopoly authority has filed charges against Italian cement and other leading cement companies, accusing them of violating market competition rules from June 2011 to January 2016.
Italcementi explained that the company's previous management's business decision to propose nominal price increases to their customers was in line with free market rules and commercial logic. Italian Cement also believes that the maximum anti-monopoly fine of 80 million euros proposed by the Italian Anti-monopoly Bureau is totally disproportionate to the company's turnover in Italy and is too high.
