The docking meeting of production capacity cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries was held in Maputo, capital of Mozambique, on the 14th. Participants expressed their expectation that Mozambique and China would strengthen cooperation in production capacity and make Sino-Mozambican cooperation a model of Sino-African cooperation.
Speaking at the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in 2015, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Mozambique, Gina Soto, said that China and Mozambique had expressed their common will to consolidate their cooperative relations. She said that the Mozambican government is taking various measures to attract foreign investors to invest in Mozambique, such as amending laws, giving various preferences and improving the investment environment.
Alvaro Maschinger, vice president of the Mozambican Federation of Economic Associations, said in his speech that Mozambique's energy resources had not been fully developed and hoped that Mozambique and China would build more industrial parks through cooperation. Mozambique also needs large investment in infrastructure, ports, agriculture and other fields.
Belmiro Marate, Director-General of the General Department of Asia and Oceania of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mozambique, said that Mozambique was looking forward to strengthening capacity cooperation with China within the framework of the Sino-Portuguese Forum.
In his speech, Chinese Ambassador to Mozambique Su Jian said that as Mozambique's largest source of investment, major trading partners and one of the most important financiers and builders of infrastructure projects, China has identified Mozambique as a key country for international capacity cooperation.
He pointed out that the Sino-Portuguese Forum is the main platform for production capacity cooperation between China and Mozambique, and expressed the hope that entrepreneurs from both countries would seize the opportunity to make Sino-Mozambican cooperation a model for Sino-African cooperation.
As a representative of the organizer of the event, Xu Yingzhen, Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of the Sino-Portuguese Forum, said that accelerating cooperation in the field of production capacity between China and Portuguese-speaking countries would help to effectively link China's "the Belt and Road" initiative with the development strategies of Portuguese-speaking countries, constantly enhance the level of bilateral economic and trade cooperation, promote the economic and social development of the Forum countries and benefit the people.
Mozambique has many advantages, such as abundant natural resources and superior climatic conditions. At present, China and Mozambique have cooperated in energy resources development, agriculture, construction engineering, processing and manufacturing, automobile assembly, digital television and other fields.
