Philippine Holcim recently said that by the first half of 2017, its production capacity is expected to reach 10 million tons per year. Sapna Sood, the company's chief operating officer, said that the company had obtained the additional capacity of 2 million tons after investing $40 million to upgrade its existing production equipment in 2015.

Sood said, "We see that our country's previously promised investment in infrastructure construction is being realized, which is an exciting news for the country and various industries." Sood added that although Holcim currently has no plans to build a new cement plant, Holcim Philippines plans to help implement various infrastructure projects by providing solutions.
Cement demand in the Philippines reached 26 million tons in 2016, up from 24.4 million tons in 2015, but declined in the first quarter of 2017. Holcim currently operates four cement plants in the Philippines: La Union, Bulacan, Misamis Oriental and Davao.
