   In the first quarter of 2016, Russian cement production increased by 6.1% only in the North Caucasus Federal District. Of the 41 regions with cement plants, only four regions have increased their output, including Tula Oblast by 20.8%, Rostov Oblast by 15.0%, Chechen Republic by 18.1% and Karachay Cherkess Republic by 3.5%. Cement production fell by 67.9% in Tyumen, 48.5% in Kaluga, 59.6% in Kamchatka and 43.0% in Moscow. In addition, Arkhangelsk, Samara and Sakhalin did not produce cement in the first quarter of this year.

   Of the cement holding companies, only BaselCement and HeidelbergCement have increased their production indices. Some other cement plants have increased production in the first quarter of 2016.

   In the first quarter of 2016, the cement transshipment volume of large and medium-sized enterprises in Russia decreased by 18.7% compared with the same period last year, and the railway transshipment volume decreased by 18.4%.

   In the first quarter of 2016, Russia imported 260000 tons of cement, a decrease of 41% compared with the first quarter of 2015. Of these, 54% were imported from Belarus. In the same period, Russia exported 150000 tons of cement, down nearly 56% year on year. Of this, 50% was exported to Kazakhstan and 23% to Belarus.

   In the first quarter of 2016, Russia's cement consumption was 9 million tons, down 18% from the same period last year. The inventory of large and medium-sized production enterprises remained at the level of the beginning of the year. Cement consumption declined in all Federal Districts except Crimea.

   In the first quarter of 2016, the average price of cement production in Russia was 2835 rubles per ton, up 1.8% from the first quarter of 2015, and the average price of cement procurement was 3865 rubles per ton, up 0.6% from the first quarter of 2015.
