According to relevant sources, Siam Cement Group (SCG) will spend US $200 million to US $300 million to expand its business scope in Cambodia.
According to Mr. Aree Chavalitcheewingul, deputy director of the regional sales department of Siam Cement Group in Thailand, the company's second cement plant, which cost 168 million US dollars, was just completed and put into operation in the middle of this year.
He said that with the rapid development of the construction industry in Phnom Penh, the demand for cement is increasing. He said that in order to meet the demand for cement in Cambodia, the company will spend US $200 million to US $300 million to expand its production line in Cambodia. The investment will be used by the company to implement the five-year development plan in Cambodia, and the third cement plant will be built in Gongbu Province.
In the first half of this year, the Ministry of Land Planning and Construction approved 915 construction projects at a cost of $808 million, according to a report by the Ministry.
According to SCG Group, the annual demand for cement in Cambodia is 3 million tons to meet the needs of the domestic construction industry.
