Reporters learned from China Railway Co., Ltd. that the consortium of China Railway Eryuan Group Engineering Co., Ltd. and Russian enterprises under the company signed a contract for the survey and design of the Moscow-Kazan high-speed rail project with Russian Railway Co., Ltd. on 18 th, which marked a substantial step forward in the Sino-Russian high-speed rail cooperation project.
It is understood that the two sides signed the Operation Contract for Engineering Survey, Regional Land Survey Design and Construction Design Document Compilation of the Moscow-Kazan Section of the High-speed Railway Trunk Line "Moscow-Kazan-Yekaterinburg".
According to the contract, the consortium led by Moscow Transport Design Institute and composed of China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group Co., Ltd. and Nizhny Novgorod Metro Design Institute will undertake the survey and design work of the high-speed rail. The project will be executed from 2015 to 2016 with a contract value of 20.79 billion rubles (about 380 million US dollars).
The Moscow-Kazan high-speed rail is an integral part of Russia's Strategic Transport Development Plan 2030, promulgated in November 2008, and will extend to the Yekaterinburg in the future. The total planned mileage of the project is 770 kilometers. After the completion of the railway, the running time of trains between Moscow and Kazan will be reduced from 14 hours to 3.5 hours. The project is scheduled to be completed before the 2018 World Cup.

According to reports, the highest design speed of Moka high-speed rail reaches 400 kilometers per hour, using passenger and freight common rail, except for the inconsistency of gauge, Moka high-speed rail basically adopts Chinese standards. When the project is completed in the future, it is expected to connect to Urumqi and form a high-speed passenger transport corridor between the two countries.

Zhou Guohua, executive director of the Center for Collaborative Innovation of China's High-speed Rail Internationalization Development at Southwest Jiaotong University, said that China is vigorously promoting high-speed rail to go abroad, and the signing of the project will promote the implementation of relevant national strategies and dispel previous doubts about China's high-speed rail technology in some countries.
