6月8日上午，祁阳海螺水泥项目二期工程日产4500吨干法水泥熟料生产线竣工点火投产仪式举行。副市长唐能武宣布该项目点火投产。
海螺水泥项目2009年落户祁阳县，总投资16亿元，一期工程2014年生产熟料180万吨，生产水泥220万吨，年发电0.69亿度，工业总产值5.1亿元，缴纳税收1亿元。二期熟料生产线2014年5月启动到点火投产仅仅一年时间。项目全部建成后，生产规模将达到年产熟料360万吨、水泥500万吨、发电1.38亿度，缴纳税收2亿元以上，成为全省最先进的现代化环保型水泥熟料生产线。
