According to the usinenouvelle website on February 2, Morocco's cement consumption in 2014 was 14.1 million tons, down 5.4% from the same period last year. Since 2012, the consumption of cement in Morocco has declined for three consecutive years, reflecting the depression of the construction and public works industry in Morocco.
In 2014, the per capita consumption of cement in Morocco was 430 kg, lower than world's per capita consumption of 550 kg (except China, the world's per capita consumption was 280 kg). In the same period, China's per capita consumption was 1500 kg, and France's was 330 kg.
At present, there are 15 cement plants in Morocco, with an annual output of more than 20 million tons and an excess capacity of about 6 million tons.
