The latest statistics from DANE, Colombia's national statistics department, show that the production and sales of grey cement in Colombia have increased significantly.
In September 2014, the cement output was 1.07 million tons, with a year-on-year increase of 6.9%, and the domestic cement sales volume was 1.085 million tons, with a year-on-year increase of 10.6%.
In the first three quarters of 2014, the domestic consumption of cement was 8.85 million tons, an increase of 11.4%. Cement output was 9.11 million tons, up 11.6% year on year. Among them, Antioquia increased by 15.5%, Cundinamarca by 19.7%, Norte de Santander by 32.1%, Magdalena by 32.7%, Huilan by 25.6% and Bogota by 4.1%.
The production of grey cement from September 2013 to September 2014 totaled about 12.2 million tons, an increase of 11.6%. In the same period, sales volume was 11.77 million tons, an increase of 11%. According to the analysis, the total sales of cement in major cities increased by 20%.
