In the first seven months of this year, Tajikistan has produced about 602,000 tons of cement, an increase of 580,000 tons over the same period last year, according to the Republic's Ministry of Industry and New Technology. Among them, Huaxinyawan Cement Co., Ltd. and Tojikcement Co., Ltd., the largest cement plant in Tajikistan, have the highest output of 443,000 tons and 120,000 tons respectively.
In addition, in the first half of this year, Tajikistan's cement production totaled 499,600 tons. Among them, Huaxin Yawan Cement Co., Ltd. produced 362,800 tons of cement in the first half of the year, accounting for 70% of the country's total output in the first half of the year. Tojikcement produced 101,600 tons of cement in the first half of the year.
It is reported that Huaxin Yawan Cement Co., Ltd. is located in Yawan City, Khatlon Prefecture, Tajikistan, and is jointly funded by Huaxin Central Asia Investment (Wuhan) Co., Ltd., a holding subsidiary of Huaxin Cement Co., Ltd., and Yawan GAYUR Company, Tajikistan, and put into operation in September 2013. With a total investment of 100 million US dollars and an annual cement production capacity of 1 million tons, it is the first overseas investment project of Huaxin Cement Co., Ltd.
It is reported that at present, there are 11 cement production enterprises in Tajikistan, with an annual cement production capacity of 2.5 million tons. In 2013, Tajikistan produced only 385,000 tons of cement. By the end of this year, Tajikistan's cement producers plan to produce 1 million tons of cement, which means that Tajikistan's cement imports will be reduced.
It is reported that the annual cement import volume of Tajikistan is 3 million tons. Tajikistan mainly imports cement from Pakistan and Iran.
Demand for cement in Tajikistan has risen sharply this year, thanks to a surge in construction of the Rogun hydropower plant, roads and other state facilities.
