Recently, Tianhe Energy Storage and Aer Sol Soléir, an Irish renewable energy developer, formally signed their first large-scale battery energy storage project cooperation agreement in Italy. The two sides will jointly build a 250 MW/1 GWh energy storage power station in Rondissone, Turin. This project will become one of the largest battery energy storage projects in Italy and even Europe at present, which not only opens a new chapter for Tianhe Energy Storage in the Italian large-scale energy storage market, but also marks a key step in its strategic layout in Europe and consolidates its position as a reliable partner in the field of large-scale energy storage in Europe.
Industry data show that Italy's grid electricity demand has reached 328 TWh in 2025, and is growing steadily at an average annual rate of 3.3%, and is expected to increase to 393 TWh in 2030. In the context of this growing energy demand, Italy is accelerating its transition to renewable energy with photovoltaic and wind power as the core, thus promoting energy storage systems to become the key infrastructure to ensure grid stability and balanced intermittent power generation. To this end, the Italian government has introduced a strong policy framework, especially the Power Storage Capacity Procurement Mechanism (MACSE) and the Capacity Market Auction System, which aim to purchase up to 50 GWh of energy storage by 2030, providing a clear business path for large-scale energy storage projects.

In this context, the Rondissone project of Tianhe Energy Storage and Aer Sol Soléir successfully won the bid in the Italian 2027 capacity market auction, which will significantly enhance the reliability of the power grid, reduce the curtailment rate, and strongly support Italy to achieve the goal of renewable energy development. Tianhe Energy Storage will provide a new generation of Elementa King Kong 2 Pro liquid-cooled battery energy storage system for the project, and integrate advanced converter system, medium-voltage prefabricated cabin and power station controller to fully guarantee the excellent performance of the system and grid support capacity.
In addition to equipment supply, Tianhe Energy Storage will provide one-stop services covering the whole life cycle, including a 20-year long-term service agreement (LTSA) covering preventive and corrective maintenance, spare parts management, all-weather remote technical support, extended warranty services and system performance assurance. To ensure that the project maintains a high level of reliability and profitability throughout the operation cycle. Gabriele Buccini, head
of TRW Energy Storage Europe, stressed: Italy has become one of the most promising energy storage markets in Europe with the capacity market mechanism, the power storage capacity procurement mechanism (MACSE) and the rapid deployment of renewable energy. The Rondissone project is not only our first gigawatt hour project in Italy, but also an important starting point for our long-term investment in the region's energy transformation. We are pleased to join hands with Aer Sol Soléir to help Italy strengthen its energy infrastructure and lay the foundation for a cleaner and more resilient power system with leading energy storage technology and long-term service system. Philip King, Chief Operating Officer of Aer Sol Soléir, said, We are very pleased to have reached a supply agreement with Trina Energy Storage for the Rondissone energy storage project, which is also an important milestone for the Aer Sol Soléir team. This project is the first of our important projects in Italy to start construction, and we look forward to working closely with such excellent partners as Tianhe Energy Storage to jointly promote the project landing.
Tianhe Energy Storage has established a solid foundation in the Italian and European markets. According to the report released by S & P Global Energy 2025, by virtue of its system integration strength and project delivery performance, Tianhe Energy Storage ranked among the top ten global energy storage system integrators, ranking eighth in the world, and was also included in the top ten list in Europe, Central and East Africa, Australia and other core regional markets. Up to now, the cumulative shipments of Tianhe Energy Storage in the European market have exceeded 4 GWh , covering many markets such as the United Kingdom, Germany, Greece, Spain and Eastern Europe. In Italy, the Torre di Pierri independent energy storage power station successfully put into operation by the company continues to operate steadily, providing reliable support for the local power grid. Based on mature project experience and market trust, Tianhe Energy Storage is actively promoting the delivery of more projects in Italy's MACSE plan to further fulfill its long-term commitment to help Italy's energy transformation.
In the future, Tianhe Energy Storage will take the Rondissone project as an important basis, continue to deepen the layout of energy storage in Europe, and accelerate the large-scale landing of gigawatt hour projects. The company will continue to rely on technological innovation and global service system, work with partners to provide solid support for building a safer, more efficient and cleaner modern energy system, and contribute lasting and reliable wisdom and strength to the realization of the global zero carbon goal.
