According to foreign media reports, Oman plans to operate six large-scale solar independent power projects (IPP), which will have a total installed capacity of about 6GW by 2030-2031 .
According to Oman Power and Water Purchaser (Nama PWP), the initial planned installed capacity of the six large-scale solar independent power generation projects (IPP) is 1000 MW , and the actual installed capacity will be adjusted according to site selection and detailed resource assessment. The planned date of commercial operation will be determined soon.
It is worth noting that the above six large-scale solar independent power generation projects will further increase the total installed capacity of renewable energy in Oman to 12.18 GW .
In addition to the above projects, Oman's renewable energy projects that can be connected to the grid by 2030-2031 include 24 solar and wind projects and a waste incineration power plant.
It is reported that Oman plans to increase the proportion of renewable energy generation to 30-40% by 2030 . In 2040 , it will further increase to 60% -70% . To support the goal of net zero carbon emissions by 2050 .
