Recently, China Energy Construction International Group, Southwest Electric Power Design Institute of China Electric Power Engineering Consulting Group and China Energy Construction Group successfully signed the EPC contract for the first phase of the optical storage project in Midelt, Morocco, in the form of a consortium.
It is understood that the project is located in the Midelt region of Morocco, and mainly constructs about 630 MW photovoltaic power station and 1300 MWh electrochemical energy storage system. The scope of the project covers survey and design, equipment supply, construction and installation, commissioning and related services.
It is worth noting that after the completion of the project, it will become the largest single optical storage project in Africa.

As an important project of energy transformation in Morocco , the project will give full play to the role of large-scale energy storage system in peak shaving, frequency modulation and stabilizing new energy output. Effectively enhance the flexible regulation ability and power supply reliability of the local power system, and promote the large-scale development and efficient absorption of renewable energy such as photovoltaic. It will provide strong support for Morocco to achieve the goal of renewable energy accounting for 52% of the total installed electricity in the country by 2030.
According to the Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy in the Kingdom of Morocco on August 14, Morocco's renewable energy accounts for 46.1% of the country's total installed electricity capacity.
