Liquid Wind filed for bankruptcy, highlighting that the green hydrogen industry is facing severe challenges such as high cost, difficult commercialization and tight financing.

According to several Swedish media reports , Liquid Wind, a green hydrogen project development company, has formally filed for bankruptcy.

Just a week before the bankruptcy filing, the company had filed an environmental permit application for EF EFÖvik, a large Swedish project, which was enough to show that Liquid Wind still planned to continue the development of the project a few days ago.

The company originally planned to land several projects in Sweden and Finland, laying out an annual production capacity of 100000 tons of green hydrogen-based electronic methanol. In November

2024, Liquid Wind completed a 44 million euro round of financing, with investors including former shareholders Uniper, Hycap, and Samsung Ventures. This was also the largest fund-raising of the company at that time.

At present, Hydrogen Insight has contacted relevant parties to further verify the specific reasons and details of Liquid Wind's bankruptcy filing.

In addition, Liquid Wind was the original sponsor of FlagshipONE, an electronic methanol plant. The project was subsequently acquired by Orsted and the final investment decision was finalized, but the Danish energy company finally announced in 2024 that it would shelve the project.
