Recently, 20 lithium power enterprises collectively issued price increase notices, and the overall price adjustment range remained between 2% and 30%. The reason is that the consumption tax on lithium primary batteries and lithium ion batteries will be resumed on September 1. The tax rate will be 2% by the end of 2026 and will be raised to 4% from 2027.
The calculation shows that the 2% tax rate increases the cost by about 0.007 ‑ 0.008 yuan/Wh, and the cost of 100 MWh energy storage project increases by 73 ‑ 1.46 million yuan, and the overall impact is controllable. After the
consumption tax is officially implemented, the tax of 2% or even 4% will have little impact on the leading enterprises. For small and medium-sized battery factories with single-digit net profit, 2% will be enough to swallow a considerable proportion of profits. When the tax rate doubles in 2027, the pressure will only be multiplied, and the energy storage industry may accelerate the reshuffle.
