At the meeting, Gui Tongsheng, president of the association, made an in-depth analysis of the outstanding challenges facing the current industry: First, the pressure on the demand side continues , the impact of the deep adjustment of real estate is still there, and although the demand for infrastructure is supported, it is difficult to fully fill the gap; Second, the contradiction of overcapacity has not been fundamentally solved , the problem of structural overcapacity is prominent, and at the same time, it is facing the impact of new supply brought by phosphogypsum acid production projects; Thirdly, the industry volume is intensified , the consensus among enterprises is insufficient, the coordination is insufficient, the market ecology is damaged, and the operating pressure is significantly increased.
As an important town in central China connecting the east with the west and connecting the south with the north, Hubei is adjacent to Anhui in the east, Chongqing in the west, Jiangxi and Hunan in the south, and Henan in the north. The Yangtze River Golden Waterway passes through the province, providing unique convenience for the transportation of cement and other bulk materials. This location advantage also makes the operation situation of Hubei cement industry not only profoundly affect the market of the Yangtze River Basin, but also has an important vane significance for the national cement industry pattern. this year, the cement industry in Hubei has fallen into the predicament of falling volume and price, intensifying competition, and the pressure of enterprise operation has increased significantly.
Demand-side data show that the national cement output in the first quarter fell by 7.1% year-on-year, and the cement output in Hubei in the first quarter was 15.608 million tons, down 19.17% year-on-year, which was higher than that in most parts of the country. The price side is also weak, in late March, the leading enterprises in eastern Hubei raised the cement price by 20 yuan/ton, but due to the low demand and the impact of foreign low-price cement, the price soon fell back; According to the tracking data of China Cement Network, the overall price of cement in Hubei has shown a continuous downward trend in the past year.
"The situation of Hubei cement industry is very tense, and the future competition may be more cruel." Many Hubei cement enterprises said frankly. A person in charge of a local enterprise said that it is unrealistic to give consideration to both efficiency and market, that enterprises should stick to the bottom line of price, and that the core of anti-involution in the industry is to curb sales below the cost line.
Faced with the current severe situation of the industry, many cement enterprises in Hubei appealed in the communication with China Cement Network: First, strictly control the supply of production capacity, hope that the government will carefully assess the new supply pressure brought by the phosphogypsum acid production project, and strengthen the supervision of cement production capacity and output; The second is to promote the reasonable return of prices, resolutely resist dumping at low prices and maintain market order; the third is to play the role of the association as a bridge, strengthen the communication between enterprises within the province and across provinces, gather industry consensus and form development synergy.
