According to the statistics of the General Administration of Customs, in the first half of 2019, Vietnam exported 15.6 million tons of cement worth 667 million US dollars, an increase of 1.3% in sales volume and 17.9% in value compared with the same period last year. In June 2019
alone, the export volume of cement reached 1.79 million tons, with a value of 77.5 million US dollars, down 27.8% from the previous month, and the value decreased by 28.7%. Cement and clinker export turnover for the seven months of 2019 is expected to be approximately US $750 million, with production of 17.3 million tonnes.
Although there was only a slight increase compared with the same period in 2018, the export value increased by 17.9% compared with the same period last year. The reason is that the proportion of clinker/cement in cement export has changed significantly in the past period, including increasing the amount of cement export and reducing the export of clinker. In previous years, the export structure was usually 2/3 clinker and the remaining 1/3 cement, but now, the increase in cement exports helps enterprises to increase value.
In 2019, the whole cement industry aims to export about 25 million tons, with domestic consumption of 69 million to 70 million tons of cement.
