Speech by Secretary-General Rong Yakun | Remarks on the 10th Anniversary of WCA

Dear colleagues, hello!

I am the Secretary-General of the World Cement Association. In a twinkling of an eye, the World Cement Association ushered in an important moment of its tenth anniversary. Standing at this memorable node, my heart is full of emotion and joy.

Since its establishment in London in 2016, WCA has always adhered to its original intention and set up an international platform for equal exchange and mutual benefit in the global cement industry. Over the past decade, we have witnessed the transformation and growth of the industry, and have achieved a series of tangible results with all our members.

We continue to open up global communication channels, organize a number of international conferences and member forums to share cutting-edge technologies, advanced management experience and green development practices; we organize experts to carry out benchmarking, difference analysis and inspection services (Pegasus) for member factories to help member enterprises improve their operation and management level; We pay special attention to the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, link resources for everyone, empower growth, and make the association a trusted industry platform for global cement workers. In

2023, I became the Secretary-General of the Association. Over the past three years, I have had the honor to work side by side with my colleagues and serve our members. Looking back on this process, every achievement of the association can not be separated from the guidance of Chairman Wei Rushan, the full cooperation of the Executive Committee, the trust and support of the members, and the perseverance and dedication of the WCA team. Here, I would like to express my sincere thanks to all of you!

Standing at the new starting point of the tenth anniversary of the founding of the association, a new journey has begun. Under the leadership of Chairman Wei, we will continue to work with the Executive Committee, members and WCA team to continuously upgrade services, dig deep into service value, and make every effort to empower and increase efficiency for member enterprises. We will work together with you to promote the development of the association and the global cement industry.

This is Jacques Rong, the Secretary General of the World Cement Association. Time flies, and we are now celebrating the 10th anniversary of the founding of WCA. Standing at this memorable moment, I feel truly delighted and grateful.

Established in London back in 2016, WCA has remained committed to our founding mission, building an international platform for equal dialogue, mutual support and win-win cooperation across the global cement sector. Over the past decade, we have witnessed tremendous changes and progress of the industry, and delivered tangible achievements together with all our members.

We have kept expanding global communication channels and hosted numerous international conferences and member forums to share the state-of-the-art technologies, advanced management expertise and best practices for green development. We launched the Pegasus program, organizing expert teams to conduct benchmarking, gap analysis and inspections at member facilities to help the members to improve operational and management performance. We have always attached great importance to the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises, connecting them with valuable resources and empowering their development. By doing that, WCA acts as the reliable cement community worldwide.

I took office as Secretary General in 2023. Over the past three years, I have been honored to journey alongside all of you and serve our members. None of these accomplishments would have been possible without the leadership of President Wei Rushan, the close collaboration of the board directors, the enduring trust and generous support from every member, as well as the dedication and hard work of the entire WCA team. Please accept my sincerest gratitude to each and every one of you.

Now we stand at a new starting point for the next decade. Under the leadership of President Wei, we will continue to work hand in hand with all directors, members and the WCA team. We will keep upgrading our services and fully explore service value to empower member enterprises. Together, we will forge ahead for the sustainable development of WCA and the whole industry.
