On March 31, the National Energy Administration held a monthly (March) dispatching meeting on the development and construction of renewable energy power. Wan Jinsong, member of the Party Leadership Group and deputy director of the National Energy Administration, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
The meeting summarized the overall situation of renewable energy development in China from January to February 2026, listened to the implementation of the opinions and suggestions put forward by the dispatching meeting in January, analyzed the situation and problems faced by renewable energy development, and put forward the requirements for the next step.
The meeting pointed out that from January to February 2026, China's renewable energy development momentum was good, the installed capacity and power generation increased steadily, and the green power supply capacity continued to increase. By the end of February, the installed capacity of renewable energy power generation in China had reached 2.381 billion kilowatts, accounting for 60.3% of the total installed capacity of the country; the newly installed capacity was 44.97 million kilowatts, accounting for 68.4% of the total newly installed capacity; and the power generation capacity was 570.7 billion kilowatt hours, accounting for 34.5% of the total electricity consumption of the whole society. Among them, the total installed capacity of wind power and photovoltaic power is 1.883 billion kilowatts (651 million kilowatts of wind power and 1.232 billion kilowatts of photovoltaic power), with a total power generation of 375.6 billion kilowatt hours, accounting for 22.7% of the total electricity consumption of the whole society, which plays a more prominent role in supporting the green transformation of energy.
The meeting emphasized that this year is the first year of the 15th Five-Year Plan, and we should focus on the following tasks. First, we should continue to make efforts to further expand investment. We should maintain the good momentum of investment growth in the field of renewable energy, strengthen the guidance, dispatch and supervision of local energy enterprises, and do this work without slackening. Second, we should coordinate and coordinate efforts to further improve the work of new energy consumption. Local energy authorities should coordinate the development of external electricity and local new energy, strengthen the performance of long-term power purchase agreements, and stabilize the expectation of new energy consumption. Power grid enterprises should increase investment in power grids, optimize dispatching management, and continuously improve the capacity of new energy consumption. Power generation enterprises should make rational judgments and plan layout of projects. Third, we should adjust measures to local conditions and further promote the development of new models and new formats. Local energy authorities should combine local energy endowment and industrial structure, explore new models and new formats such as green power direct connection and zero-carbon parks according to local conditions, and continue to expand the non-electricity consumption space of new energy. Fourth, both internal and external efforts should be made to further enhance the market competitiveness of new energy enterprises. It is an inevitable trend for new energy enterprises to participate in market transactions in an all-round way. At present, enterprises should practice "external skills", improve the power generation capacity of new energy stations, optimize the power generation curve, and promote the construction of system-friendly power stations; at the same time, they should practice "internal skills", speed up the adaptation to market trading rules, strengthen the cultivation of professional talents, accurately grasp market opportunities, efficiently match market demand, and lay a good foundation for sustainable development. The relevant departments (bureaus) of the State
Development and Reform Commission and the State Energy Administration, the competent energy departments of provinces (districts and municipalities) and Sinkiang Production and Construction Corps, the dispatched agencies of the State Energy Administration, the relevant power grid enterprises and power generation enterprises, and the relevant departments of the State Energy Administration. Relevant responsible comrades from the General Institute of Hydropower, the General Institute of Electricity Regulation, the Energy Research Institute of the National Development and Reform Commission, the China Society of Hydropower Engineering, the Wind Energy Professional Committee of the China Renewable Energy Society and the China Photovoltaic Industry Association attended the meeting.
