On March 17, Lidao New Material announced that the company had passed the proposal of a new battery aluminum foil expansion project of Lidao New Energy (Anhui) Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary, with an estimated investment of about 280 million yuan, mainly for purchasing equipment and plant construction.
Lidao New Material said that due to the outbreak of downstream demand, the rapid growth of new energy vehicles and energy storage industry, and the surge in demand for battery aluminum foil, the existing production capacity of Lidao in Anhui is difficult to meet the strong market orders. Rapid expansion of production will help the company seize more market share and establish its scale advantage in the field of new energy materials. With the opportunity of expanding production, advanced equipment is introduced and the process is optimized to improve product performance and meet the increasingly stringent quality requirements of customers for high-end aluminum foil. In addition, the expansion project can form synergy with the original Phase I project, realize the connection of the industrial chain and the balance of the overall production capacity, and improve the comprehensive operation efficiency.
It is reported that the project is expected to start on April 15, 2026, with a construction period of 10 months. As the key material of lithium battery cathode current collector, the demand for battery aluminum foil is increasing sharply with the rapid growth of new energy vehicles and energy storage industry. On the one hand, the expansion of Lidao New Material aims to cope with the current situation that the existing production capacity is difficult to meet the market orders, on the other hand, it will optimize the process by introducing advanced equipment to achieve the first phase of Anhui Lidao Project. Improve the efficiency of industrial chain convergence and comprehensive operation capability.
At present, Anhui Lidao has invested in the construction of battery current collector material production base in Bengbu, Anhui Province in 2022, and has formed an annual production capacity of 40000 tons of aluminum foil for batteries.
