Although the current terminal demand has not yet fully recovered and the effect of price increase remains to be observed, this move undoubtedly releases a strong signal of industry confidence restoration.
According to the feedback from the market, the cement enterprises in Shijiazhuang area of Hebei Province are currently in the off-peak production stage in autumn and winter, and the shutdown of the kiln is expected to last until mid-March 2026. At present, the overall clinker inventory in the region is relatively sufficient. Affected by the shutdown of construction sites during the Spring Festival and the recent heavy pollution weather, the market demand continued to be weak and the price was under pressure. In order to lay a price foundation for the Spring Festival market, leading cement enterprises in Shijiazhuang and surrounding areas such as Xingtai, Handan, Cangzhou and Hengshui have been notified to raise cement prices by 50 yuan per ton since March 1. However, considering that the current red warning of environmental protection has not been lifted, and that the overall demand has not been substantially restored during the two sessions, the actual implementation of this round of price increases still needs to be followed up and observed. Affected by the sustained high prices of raw materials such as coal after the Spring Festival in Guanzhong area of
Shaanxi Province, the production cost pressure of cement enterprises has increased. At the same time, the market demand is gradually transiting from the off-season to the spring construction peak season. At present, the inventory of enterprises is generally at a medium to low level, and the willingness of enterprises to raise prices is relatively strong. To this end, the main cement enterprises in Guanzhong area of Shaanxi Province notified on March 4 to raise the price of various types of cement by 30 yuan/ton. In view of the fact that the overall demand is still in the process of recovery at the initial stage of market start-up, the actual landing situation of this price adjustment remains to be further observed.
In Northeast China, major cement enterprises in Northeast China have notified an increase of 40 yuan/ton since February 24th. This price adjustment is mainly driven by factors such as high cost caused by off-peak production in winter and paving the way for the subsequent market start-up. As the terminal demand has not yet fully recovered, the actual effect of the price increase remains to be seen.
Looking forward to 2026, cement enterprises will continue to promote the supplement of clinker production capacity, shrink the total clinker production capacity, reshape the market supply pattern, but the demand will continue to decline, off-peak production may be difficult to sustain, and the cement industry will eventually return to the law of the jungle.
