On October 16, the Central Plains Cement Price Index rose 6.59 points from the previous trading day, closing at 298.41 points, an increase of 2.26%, about 2.9 times the national increase (0.79%). It was second only to Zhongnan in the regional index on that day, only 1.59 points away from the 300-point mark.

Recently, driven by the sustained high prices of raw materials such as coal, rising production costs and the rising atmosphere in the surrounding areas, leading enterprises in Henan Province have notified an increase of 50 yuan/ton in cement prices, which is the fifth round of push up since August to September. On October 16, the reference average price of P.O42.5 bulk cement in 16 prefectures and cities in Henan went up synchronously, with most prefectures and cities such as Jiyuan, Zhoukou, Xinyang and Zhengzhou rising by 8%, and Zhumadian, Nanyang and Luoyang rising by 7%; the price index of P.O42.5 cement in Henan rose to 309.69, with a month-on-month increase of 10.73% and a year-on-year increase of 14.05%.
In the short term, the high cost of coal still supports the price of cement. In the fourth quarter, the demand for rush work is released, the willingness of enterprises to repair profits is strong, and the driving force still exists. However, the 20 yuan/ton pushed up before the festival has basically fallen after the festival, and the actual landing situation of the 50 yuan/ton notice in this round still needs to be tracked. If the demand recovery is not as expected, the upward space of the price may be narrowed.
