Quanzhou, Fujian Province, has invested 1.5 billion yuan to build a project with an annual output of 30000 tons of battery-grade lithium carbonate and supporting by-product sodium sulfate, which has been approved by the EIA.

On June 17, the Bureau of Ecology and Environment of Quanzhou City, Fujian Province, issued an announcement on the approval of the environmental impact report of Quanzhou Jintong Xuneng New Energy (Phase I) project with an annual output of 30000 tons of lithium and electricity new materials.

Previous EIA reports show that the project is located in the fairyland area of Quangang Petrochemical Industrial Park, Quanzhou City, Fujian Province, covering an area of 224647 48 m ², with a total investment of 1500 million yuan. The main construction contents include 30000 tons/year lithium carbonate production plant, lithium carbonate workshop, sodium sulfate workshop, purification workshop, leaching workshop and supporting public auxiliary facilities.

The project process adopts rotary kiln roasting to convert the physical form of spodumene, and then enters the processes of acidification and lithium precipitation to produce lithium carbonate and other chemical raw materials. After completion, the production capacity of battery-grade lithium carbonate can be 30000 tons per year, and the production capacity of by-product anhydrous sodium sulfate can be 94752 tons per year.
