On May 30, Professor Lian Huizhen of Tsinghua University, a highly respected scholar in the field of concrete in China, died of illness at the age of 93.
Lian Huizhen devoted all her life to the research and teaching of concrete in China. After graduating from Tsinghua University in 1958, he stayed at the school to teach. In the 1970s and 1990s, he undertook a number of major scientific research tasks. High Performance Concrete, co-authored with Academician Wu Zhongwei, became a classic in the industry. After retirement, he continued to work on major infrastructure projects. It has made great contributions to the progress of modern concrete technology in China.
As the most firm guardian and guide of China's concrete industry, Professor Lian Huizhen, with more than 90 years of life, has perfectly interpreted the profound connotation of "old steed in the stable, ambition in thousands of miles". She is not only recognized as an "evergreen tree" in the industry, but also a candle that burns herself and illuminates the way for future generations to explore.
