According to CCTV News, at 17:46 on February 2, during the construction of Yuegang Bridge on Lianshen Line, which was constructed by the 12th Bureau of China Railway, a tie arch beam collapsed. At present, two people were seriously injured in the accident and died after being sent to the hospital for rescue, and three people lost contact. On-site rescue, accident investigation and aftercare are being carried out.

Earlier, Xinhua News Agency reported that after the collapse of the bridge, the relevant departments of the local government have made every effort to organize rescue, and many people have been salvaged, and the search and rescue work is still in progress. Jiangsu Province, in 2025, the leaders of the County Transportation Bureau introduced that the waterway regulation project from Guanhe River to Huangxiang River on Lianshen Line was completed by the end of this year, and the Zhouji Bridge, Yuegang Bridge and Datong Bridge under construction were striving to be completed and opened to traffic in September 2026. After the
accident, the Yancheng Transportation Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Detachment announced that due to the collapse of the Yuegang Bridge in Xiangshui County, the waters where the accident occurred were not navigable. In order to ensure the safety of navigation, it was decided to temporarily close the navigation section from the mouth of the T-shaped port to the Xiangshui Lock on the Lianshen Line.
