Faced with the challenges of climate change and land degradation, Taiwan Cement has tried to achieve sustainable development through innovative thinking and nature-based solutions, so that sunshine, sheep, land, photoelectricity and energy storage can form an endless green cycle in cement plants. This is also an opportunity to activate the community, restore the land, and practice true symbiosis.

In response to the International Biodiversity Day on May 22, Taiwan Cement Group released the theme film "Sheep and Electricity Symbiosis" for the first time. With the theme of "When Cement Plants Raise Sheep Under Photovoltaic Panels: Taiwan Cement's Nature-based Solution", the film presents the "Sheep-Electricity Symbiosis" project promoted by Taiwan Cement Yingde Factory. This innovative nature-based solution not only significantly reduces the use of chemical herbicides, but also demonstrates the possible future development direction of solving the aging of livestock population through cooperation cases with local livestock farmers, and is committed to the sustainable symbiosis of green energy development, environment and community. In recent years,

Taiwan Cement Yingde Plant has actively built an 8 MW photovoltaic system, which is matched with the leading 43.2M W/107.3M Wh energy storage system in the mainland cement industry, making great strides in energy transformation. At the same time, Taiwan Cement is also thinking about how to use Nature-based Solutions (NbS) to deal with the weeding task of large-scale photovoltaic power generation projects and promote ecological balance. Instead of using fossil-fueled weeders and chemical herbicides that are harmful to the soil, the Yingde plant introduced sheep for biological weeding.

This initiative not only gives sheep a natural source of food, but also makes sheep manure a natural organic fertilizer to nourish the land and improve soil fertility. From their own attempt to raise sheep to September last year, the team of Taiwan Cement Yingde Factory further extended the "sheep-electricity symbiosis" program to the community, inviting 65-year-old Mr. and Mrs. Qi Chenggong, a senior shepherd who has been working in the local area for 40 years, to "graze" in the cement plant. Mr.

Chi used to raise sheep in a pasture two kilometers from the Yingde factory, but he has encountered the same problems as many sheep farmers. As he grows older, his legs and feet are inconvenient, and it is increasingly difficult to graze, and the sheep are easily lost. Mr. Qi, a shepherd, said that raising sheep under photovoltaic panels, the sheep had a stable space for activities, no longer lost, but also ate pure natural pasture to produce high-quality "green food". This not only solves the challenge of finding grazing land for shepherds and aging, but also provides an innovative model for the transformation of traditional animal husbandry and promotes the resilience of local industries. In order to accelerate the realization of the "double carbon target" and actively promote the green and high-quality development of the industry, China Cement Network will hold the "2025 China Cement Double Carbon Conference and the 13th Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Technology Exchange Conference" on May 27-28, 2025. At the same time, the release ceremony of "2025 ESG Ranking List of Cement Industry" was held . This conference will bring together industry elites and multi-resources to provide all-round support for the industry in terms of technology, policy landing and resource docking.

Prices in Ningxia are stable but export sales are low, Gansu is facing callback pressure after price increases, sales in Qinghai are not up to expectations after pushing up, Shaanxi has great resistance to price recovery, Xinjiang is stable due to engineering demand, and the overall market is mainly stable price wait-and-see in the short term.
