In the mountain city of Chongqing, Chongqing Conch is turning kitchen waste into treasure in an innovative way, turning the concept of "green water and green hills are Jinshan and Yinshan" into vivid practice, and realizing the win-win situation of environmental protection and benefit. Since the first cement kiln co-disposal project in China was put into operation in 2023, more than 28000 tons of "leftovers" have been transformed here.
In recent years, with the development of cities and the improvement of living standards, kitchen waste is increasing day by day, and its reduction, recycling and harmless treatment have become a necessary question for urban governance. At the same time, as a traditional industry, the cement industry is also actively seeking a green transformation path of energy saving and emission reduction.
On the one hand, it is the "trouble" of the city that needs to be dealt with urgently, and on the other hand, it is the "demand" of enterprises seeking breakthroughs. "The production process of cement is burning, and the conventional treatment of garbage is also burning.". When the two are combined, the circulation of resources is realized. Based on this idea, Chongqing Conch cooperated with Zhongxian Government to invest 50 million yuan to build the first national project of co-processing kitchen waste in cement kilns.
This is not only a technological innovation, but also a "two-way rush" between enterprises and cities.
From recycling to disposal: a complete closed-loop system
to achieve "turning waste into treasure", scientific collection and transportation is the first step. Through the signing of agreements between the county government and catering enterprises, schools, government canteens and other units, the special vehicles equipped with advanced airtight equipment are collected and transported uniformly according to fixed time and route, which effectively avoids the leakage and odor emission in the transportation process and reduces the secondary pollution to the environment.

When the fully loaded collection truck arrives at Chongqing Conch, a fantastic journey of only two hours begins. Conch has introduced the integrated treatment technology of "pretreatment + anaerobic fermentation + advanced treatment + cement kiln synergy". This process can not only efficiently convert garbage into oil and organic fertilizer , but also skillfully utilize the waste heat and waste heat steam of the cement plant itself, which greatly improves the disposal efficiency and benefits. In this way, kitchen waste is "eaten dry and squeezed clean". The innovative solution of
a bright "green report card"
has brought considerable social and economic benefits. According to the annual treatment of more than 20000 tons of kitchen waste , the oil obtained can be used as fuel for cement kilns, which can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 4966 tons, sulfur dioxide by 16 tons and nitrogen oxides by 14 tons. This measure not only brings remarkable environmental benefits, but also cuts off the hidden dangers of "swill pig" and "gutter oil" from the source, and reduces the risk of food safety.
At the same time, the project also brings tangible economic benefits, by digesting kitchen waste and replacing coal fuel, it can save up to 15 million yuan in production costs for enterprises every year. Since it was put into operation, more than 1300 tons of industrial crude oil have been separated, more than 5000 tons of high-quality organic fertilizer have been produced, and millions of yuan of new income have been created.
Turning Waste into Treasure: Replicable "Conch Experience"
The practice of Chongqing Conch has successfully realized the harmless treatment and resource utilization of kitchen waste, providing valuable experience for other regions. Through perfect collection and transportation system, advanced treatment technology and strict supervision, the former "garbage" has really become "resources", which has injected a strong new impetus into the sustainable development of the city.
At present, the cement industry is facing the double test of energy saving, environmental protection and industrial intelligence upgrading. In order to implement the relevant policy requirements and accelerate the green low-carbon transformation and high-quality development of the cement industry, China Cement Network is scheduled for September 23-24. The 14th China Cement Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Technology Exchange Conference and the 6th Intelligent Summit Forum were held in Zibo, Shandong Province.
