On December 17, the main contract of lithium carbonate futures rose by more than 7% to 108,120 yuan/ton, with a cumulative increase of nearly 40% in 2025. In the past month, the transaction price of battery-grade lithium carbonate has risen from 86,000 yuan/ton in mid-November to 97,000 yuan/ton, an increase of 12.8%. The highest transaction price was 99500 yuan/ton, approaching 100000 yuan/ton.
The price rise may be related to a previous announcement in Yichun, Jiangxi Province. On December 12, the Natural Resources Bureau of Yichun City, Jiangxi Province, known as the "Lithium Capital of Asia", announced that 27 mining rights would be cancelled, and after the cancellation, related obligations such as ecological restoration would be fulfilled by the original mining rights holders.
It is worth noting that the 27 mining rights licenses to be cancelled have expired.
