On March 13, the 14th China Cement Industry Summit and TOP100 Award Ceremony Technology Special Event sponsored by China Cement Network was held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. Shi Caijun, chief professor of Hunan University, a national specialist, made a keynote report on "Mineralization and Utilization of Carbon Emissions in Cement Industry".
Shi Caijun introduced the mineralization and utilization of carbon emissions in cement industry from four aspects: background, development history of CO2 mineralized cementitious materials, preparation of low/negative carbon building materials and products by CO2 mineralization of cement kiln tail gas, conclusion and prospect.
Shi Caijun pointed out that the preparation of low/negative carbon building materials and products by carbon mineralization involves complex physical and chemical processes, and fine regulation can significantly improve performance. The capture and storage of carbon requires considerable cost, and the direct use of tail gas for carbon mineralization is the most economical and effective way of carbon utilization. The durability and structural properties of carbon-mineralized products need to be studied to expand their applications.
