Recently, a foundation-laying ceremony was held in Indonesia for the Indonesian nickel resources and battery industry chain project, which was jointly invested and constructed by Ningde Times subsidiary Puqin Times (CBL), Indonesian state-owned mining company ANTAM and Indonesian battery company IBC.
It is reported that the plant has an initial capacity of 6.9 GWh and is expected to be put into operation by the end of 2026. The capacity of the plant will be increased to 15G Wh in the future. The project is planned to involve an investment of nearly US $6 billion and covers an area of more than 2,000 hectares. The total planned land area of the
project is over 2000 hectares, including nickel mining and smelting, battery material manufacturing and battery recycling projects in East Halmahera, North Maluku Province, and battery manufacturing projects in Karawang, West Java Province. Among them, the first phase of Karawang Battery Factory has a planned capacity of 6.9 GWh, which will rely on AI, 5G, digital twins and other cutting-edge technologies to produce high-quality battery products according to the standards of Ningde Times Lighthouse Factory, and accelerate the process of electric travel and energy transformation in Indonesia and the world.
