local time, Huaxin Zambia Ndola Upgrading and Renovation Project held a formal commissioning ceremony after 11 months of construction and one month of trial operation. Entrusted
by President Hichilema of Zambia, Paul Kabuswe, Minister of Mines and Mineral Development of Zambia, attended the event and delivered a speech on his behalf. Elisha Matambo, Governor of Copperbelt Province of Zambia, Li Yeqing, President of Huaxin, Muna Hantuba, Chairman of Qilanka Cement Company, delivered speeches, and Chiwara, Chief of Zambia, attended the event. Paul Kabuswe affirmed Huaxin's important contribution to Zambia's industrial upgrading and economic construction, and praised Huaxin for actively fulfilling its commitment to sustainable development. He stressed that Zambia will continue to optimize the business environment, support Huaxin and other Chinese-funded enterprises to expand investment in Zambia, win-win cooperation, and jointly promote the industrialization and modernization of the country. Li Yeqing thanked the Zambian governments at all levels for supporting the development of Huaxin, and said that Huaxin would also invest more in Zambia to develop environmental protection, new materials and other businesses, so as to enrich products and services, meet market demand and promote local development.
The participants also visited the Ndola plant and the central control room.
The Ndola plant is one of two cement plants owned by Chilanka Cement, Zambia's leading supplier of building materials. The Ndola plant was built in 1969. The original daily production capacity of clinker and cement was 500 tons and 650 tons respectively. After more than 50 years of operation, the equipment is seriously aging, with high energy consumption and low efficiency. In 2021, Zambia Qilanka Cement Company joined Huaxin.
Huaxin takes the Ndola plant upgrading project as a benchmark project to highlight the speed and quality of Huaxin's overseas business development. It was launched in June 2024 to overcome the construction challenges in the rainy season for 5 months. It took 11 months to complete the modernization in May 2025. The daily production capacity of clinker and cement was increased to 2000 tons and 2500 tons respectively, which significantly improved the production efficiency, effectively reduced energy consumption, greatly improved the environmental protection indicators and working environment, and laid a solid foundation for the sustainable development of the plant.
As a pioneer of "going out" in China's building materials industry, Huaxin's business covers 18 countries overseas, and has built more than 40 building materials factories in 13 countries overseas, including nearly 20 factories in 6 countries in Africa, and actively seeks new opportunities for development.
