South Korea's cement industry is in trouble because of the downturn in the construction market. Cement shipments in the first half of 2025 were 18.88 million tons, down 17.4% from the same period last year, the first time in 33 years below 20 million tons, and the performance of enterprises also declined sharply. However, third-quarter results are expected to improve. In order to get rid of the predicament, enterprises have taken positive actions, such as the merger of Korea-Japan Cement, the development of new products of Korea-Japan Cement, and the expansion of exports of enterprises. However, industry stakeholders pointed out that these efforts are limited, only the recovery of the real estate and construction market, the performance of the cement industry can really improve.
