In May, the cement consumption in Shanghai was 1.62 million tons, down 18% year-on-year and 1% month-on-month; the cumulative cement consumption was 6.81 million tons, down 25% year-on-year. Affected by the holidays and rainwater in the first ten days, the demand for cement declined, the construction progress in the last ten days caught up, and the month-on-month ratio declined slightly in May. In terms of
brand concentration, the market share of the top three brands was 43.1%, down 8.4 points from the same period last year, up 1.2 points from last month.
In terms of source regions, the local and surrounding Yangtze River Delta accounted for 84.7%, a decrease of 2.5 points, 7.6% in Jiangxi, 5.8% in Hubei and 1.9% in Chongqing.
Recently, the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment issued the Notice on the Relevant Arrangements for the Prohibition of Construction Operations during the College Entrance Examination and the Senior High School Entrance Examination in 2025, which States that: 1. During the period of the College Entrance Examination and the Senior High School Entrance Examination (from 22:00 on May 31 to 6:00 on June 15), Night construction operations involving noise pollution are prohibited within the scope of this Municipality. 2. On the supply side, the Yangtze River Delta implemented the peak staggering production plan in the rainy season in June, and the kiln was shut down for 12 days.
