Myanmar's Union Minister of Resources and Natural Resources, U Khin Mau Yi, said that cement production plants in Myanmar are operating at full capacity and have been approved to mine and produce the required industrial mineral raw materials.
In order to discuss issues related to full capacity operation, a meeting was held on the morning of February 21, 2024 at the Diyedna Hall, Office 19, Naypyidaw. The meeting was attended by the Federal Minister, Deputy Minister, Permanent Secretary and senior officials of the Ministry of Resources and Natural Environment, as well as entrepreneurs and heads of cement production plants from Naypyidaw and provinces and States.
At the meeting, the Union minister said the Ministry had approved the mining and production of industrial minerals such as limestone, coal, gypsum, iron ore and clay, which are the main raw materials for cement production. He stressed that the 19 cement production plants in Naypyidaw and the provinces and States should strive to obtain the required materials to achieve adequate production in the country. Only by ensuring a stable supply of raw materials and required materials, as well as the integrity of equipment, can the plant operate at full capacity to meet domestic demand and reduce imports from abroad.
Subsequently, the entrepreneurs at the meeting made statements on the acquisition of raw materials, the production of finished products, the market situation and the difficulties faced, and the relevant responsible persons made supplementary discussions, and the Federal Minister also gave the required coordination.
The meeting aims to promote the sustainable development of Myanmar's cement industry, ensure stable supply in the domestic market and reduce dependence on external resources. By strengthening the management and coordination of raw material mining and production, Myanmar's cement production plants are expected to achieve higher production efficiency and greater market competitiveness in the future.
