Yan Haochun pointed out that the National Development and Reform Commission and other departments jointly issued the Special Action Plan for Energy Conservation and Carbon Reduction in Cement Industry, aiming to form about 5 million tons of standard coal energy saving and carbon dioxide emission reduction of about 13 million tons by the end of 2025 through the implementation of a series of transformation and renewal. The key tasks include optimizing industrial layout and capacity regulation, accelerating energy-saving and carbon-reducing transformation and energy-using equipment renewal, implementing low-carbon fuel substitution, and promoting green transformation of cement production methods and products.

Yan Haochun said that first of all, the adjustment of product structure is a major difficulty. According to Enterprise Greenhouse Gas Emission Accounting and Reporting Cement Industry, the carbon emissions from limestone decomposition account for more than 60% of the total emissions. How to adjust the formula, improve the process route and adjust the cement product structure is a major problem for every building material worker. The key to reduce cement carbon emissions is to further encourage the development and use of new low-carbon cement products such as low-calcium cement clinker and low-clinker coefficient cement, so as to achieve real carbon reduction at the source.

Secondly, the transformation of energy structure is a key challenge. On the one hand, cement production is highly dependent on fossil fuels, especially coal, and the carbon emissions from coal combustion account for more than 35% of the total emissions. On the other hand, part of the energy used in cement production is electricity, accounting for about 5% of the total emissions. In order to effectively reduce carbon emissions, it is necessary to further adjust the energy structure, not only to study alternative fuels, but also to use more renewable energy and clean energy, and at the same time, to speed up the transformation of energy saving and carbon reduction and the renewal of energy-using equipment, and to "achieve carbon reduction in the process" of cement production by means of technological upgrading.

As we all know, the high temperature of cement kiln can dispose of a lot of dangerous solid wastes such as domestic waste, industrial solid waste and medical waste, which contain a certain calorific value and release a part of heat after high temperature incineration, which can replace a part of fuel coal and reduce carbon emissions, which we call "fuel substitution". However, because the source of this part of fuel is unstable and it is not a homogeneous product, it will have a certain impact on the production conditions and product quality. Therefore, while encouraging fuel substitution, relevant supporting policies and stable treatment technologies should be studied to provide homogeneous and sustainable alternative fuels, further reduce carbon emissions in the cement production process, and promote "process carbon reduction".
