of Dezhou University, is an expert in geopolymer cement and the chairman of the Geopolymer Industrialization Committee of the Solid Waste Branch of the Chinese Silicate Society. The first domestic geopolymer cement standard, Fly Ash Geopolymer Cementitious Materials, edited by him, was released on March 19 this year. Recently, China Cement Network has communicated with Professor Zhai Guanjie.
Ask: Everyone is talking about low-carbon cement and low-carbon cementitious materials. Professor Zhai, please tell us what low-carbon cement and low-carbon cementitious materials are and how to classify them? Principle of low carbon? How is the new term "zero carbon cement" defined? " Low carbon cement and low carbon cementitious materials refer to the reduction of carbon footprint in the manufacturing process," said
Professor Zhai Guanjie. In short, it is to substantially reduce the emission of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide.
Low carbon cement includes geopolymer cement, calcined clay cement, high belite cement, calcium sulphoaluminate-belite cement, alkali-activated cement, slag gypsum cement, and calcined gypsum cement, as well as conventional Portland fly ash cement, Portland slag cement, composite Portland cement, and the like.
Low carbon cement is divided into raw material low carbon cement (also known as no clinker type or less clinker type) and process low carbon cement (also known as admixture type).
Raw material low carbon cement includes: geopolymer cement, calcined clay cement, high belite cement, calcium sulphoaluminate-belite cement, alkali-activated cement, slag gypsum cement, calcined gypsum cement, etc. The principle of low carbon is that this kind of cement has no or less clinker, no or less calcium carbonate decomposition, and solid waste resource utilization.
Process low carbon cement (also known as admixture type) includes: fly ash Portland cement, slag Portland cement, composite Portland cement and slag gypsum cement. Low-carbon principle: the addition of active mineral admixture reduces the proportion of high-emission clinker, consumes a large amount of solid waste, and reduces the overall emission of carbon dioxide. Low-carbon cementitious materials
other than cement include: calcium carbide slag burning lime (direct emission of carbon dioxide without decomposition of calcium carbonate), β-type semi-hydrated gypsum from industrial by-product gypsum (building gypsum powder: low-temperature calcined desulfurization gypsum, low-temperature calcined phosphogypsum, etc.), and all-solid waste cementitious materials.
Zero-carbon cement: an ecological cementitious material that has no carbon footprint throughout its life cycle (only absorbs and does not emit carbon dioxide) and is manufactured using green electricity and 95-100% solid waste. Zero carbon basis: solid wastes that have been listed in the national bulk solid waste list do not count their carbon footprint. The source of alkali activator used in geopolymer cement, electrolytic cement (new technology of MIT) and alkali-activated cement should be waste alkali or green electrolysis.
Zero-carbon cement includes geopolymer cement, electrolytic cement, alkali-activated cement and solid waste cementitious materials.
With the development of new cement technology, low-carbon cement, zero-carbon cement and negative-carbon cement will become the mainstream application materials, and the cement industry will move towards a more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly future. China Cement Network will hold the " 2024 China Cement Double Carbon Conference and the 12th Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Technology Exchange Conference " in Wuhu Conch International Hotel on October 24-25. The conference will focus on the core issues of low-carbon development and green upgrading in the cement industry, discuss the application of energy efficiency improvement and energy-saving and carbon reduction technologies, and how the cement industry can use the carbon trading mechanism to promote its low-carbon transformation. At the meeting, Zhai Guanjie will give a wonderful speech on the innovative development and trend of low-carbon cement and low-carbon cementitious materials. Sign up quickly!
